The best of jazz artists are all set to perform at the 'Jazz Utsav' which will run around the theme 'put the classic back into jazz', as it recreates the raw energy and passion of the analog times and will feature back-to-back performances by the legendary guitarist Stanley Jordan, ably supported by 'To Vinicio': Matteo Fraboni Trio, Aman Kartikeya Pranai, and Smiti and Adhir. Delhi audiences can expect a strong bout of nostalgia as they listen to the finest of the genre from India and abroad playing classic, unfiltered jazz.
One of the best guitarists of our times – Stanley Jordan, will lead the party. Among others, Aman Kartikeya Pranai's experimental collaboration will feature musicians Aman Mahajan on piano, Kartikeya Srivastava on drums and Pranai Gurung on guitar.
Another performance which is going to steal the limelight is 'To Vinicio' – the new project of Italian drummer Matteo Fraboni. Performed by a trio comprising Fraboni, Odysseas Tomazou on guitar and Gianluca Liberatore on electric bass, the group beautifully blends their own compositions with traditional bossa nova music and jazz., Last but not the least, Smiti and Adhir, will feature a range of jazz and blues standards, with Smiti on vocals and Adhir on Guitar.
'Jazz Utsav' is part of Teamwork Arts' Jazz India Circuit – an endeavour to spread the word and sound of jazz across the country through various concerts that span the spectrum of the fascinating genre. This edition of Jazz India Circuit began with experimenting with new-age jazz at Goa International Jazz Live Festival (GIJLF) in November and will reach its crescendo with the Jazz Utsav in Delhi.
The MD of Teamwork Arts, Sanjoy Roy says, "This Jazz Utsav is definitely special because we have great Stanley Jordan performing at the festival. Apart from him, we have the best of jazz artists who will recreate the nostalgia and magic of classic jazz. What a fantastic culmination of the journey that began in Goa."
