Melody rejuvenated memory of Salil Chowdhury

India's Habitat centre witnessed a pulsating evening on October 27 when legendary Indian music composer Salil Chowdhury was paid tribute by singer and music composer Runki Goswami on the occasion of his upcoming 95th birth anniversary.
"It was a pleasure to perform on the songs of iconic personality Salil Chowdhury," said Goswami. I am a big fan of his composition and it was a privilege to sing his song. The moment was overwhelming and paying tribute to such a legend is like a dream come true. It was like a test for my singing ability because if any singer can sing Salil Chowdhury's song then that means he/she can sing any song.
The evening started when Runki rendered her performance with hit classics like "Kahin Dur Jab Din Dhal Jaye" and "Rimjhim k yeh pyare pyare geet liye". The audience was swaying to her performance on songs like "Janeman Janeman tere do nayan".
The stealing performance of Runki on classical music has left today's generation songs behind. She has proved that current songs might be catchy but what steal the heart of the audience are the melodies of old classic songs. The evening brought back the golden period and revived the memories with some unforgettable songs of Salil Chowdhury. Runki believes that new generations are taking up classical songs to the top and they are coming up with various versions of classical songs.
In the end, Runki said, "This evening was like a blessing for me. And the musicians were the life and soul of the evening."
