Kolkata welcomes new year with new and old Bengali rock songs

'Naam Sidhu Padabi Cactus', an year end concert, was held to celebrate the 50th birthday of rock star Sidhu at Satyajit Ray Auditorium(ICCR). It was organised by his fan circle 'Love you Sidhu Da' (LUSD ).

Sidhu performed his favorite songs 'Keno Emon Hoy, Eso Bandhu' followed by songs like 'Shohore Aaj Birsti', 'Halud Pakhi', 'Tabuo Thik Achhe' with with 'Cactus'–Bengali rock band. Also, some special artists like Usha Utthup (Kolkata, Kolkata), Upal Sengupta, Pota (Kalankini Radha) Kaushik Chakraborty (Prithibi) amazed the audience with their performance. Sidhu left his dream profession of being a doctor and pursued his career in music.They formed 'Cactus' to offer a new genre in Bengali music scene . Songs like 'Halud Pakhi' is a household name nowadays. Sidhu tried his luck in acting, presenting quiz shows as quiz master, hosting musical game show, singing as soloist in many Bengali films.

The celebration was graced by Usha Utthup, Lagnojita, Pota and others. Many underprivileged children from the group 'Save the Children' also joined the celebration and performed with Sidhu. To make the occasion more special two new singles of Sidhu were released - 'Obak Chaal' composed, sung by Sidhu under the series Aprokashito 2, and 'Aalor Gaan', written by Abhijit Paul, music by Arghyakamal Chatterjee and sung by Sidhu. What could be a better way to celebrate the day?
