Veteran actor Zeenat Aman said strong representation of women in today's films is the way it should be as to acknowledge, empower and honour them.

"Women are mothers, nurturers and life-givers. They try to give their best as a wife, mother or at the workplace and are the backbone of a family. So, acknowledging them and their presence is a good thing. However, today's female stars have to be careful while choosing roles, as a wrong choice can affects in long run," said the 70-year-old veteran cine star while speaking at an interactive session 'Stories that matter with Zeenat Aman', organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the women business wing of trade body FICCI on June 29 in New Delhi.

Talking about how she made choices of films, Aman said, "In life, you have to play with the cards which are there in your hand. So, whatever professional offers I had, I made a decision from that. Now everything is available at your fingertips as social media has opened a million doors and now digital platforms rule the world. Everyone has mobile phones and every second, the news goes from here to the corners of the globe."

"Now, it is all about promotions and social media. And due to tough competition in fashion, beauty and films, one has to give 100 percent to stay in the fray," she added.

She further said, "Acting is a craft and I was bold enough to take up roles that other celebrities were hesitant to take up. I am so grateful for this wonderful journey. Today, when when I pause and look back, I feel blessed that I had so many opportunities. I am still alive and kicking it and that's a blessing. At present, I am doing web series and some plays."

Welcoming the veteran actor, Jyanti Dalmia, President, FLO, said, "Zeenat Aman is a strong personality with grace and confidence, who inspired us with her journey as a model, an actor, a mother and above all, as an inspirational woman who emerged stronger after every challenge that came across her way. She played several unforgettable Bollywood characters that she brought to life, that too in times when such roles were not conventionally seen."

"From breaking stereotypes to being in the eye of controversies to overcoming personal challenges to being a single parent, Zeenat Aman has done it all," said Vinita Bimbhet, Former President, FLO, who was the host of the event.
