Brazilian music takes India by storm

New Brazilian music and Jazz India kicked off their tour at India Habitat Center on May 2 with guitarist Daniel Marquez from Brazil and Flautist Mark Alban Lotz captivating the audience on the first day of their two-day performance in Delhi, creating a euphoric atmosphere for the audience. The concert was presented by Recalling Roots and partnered by IRIS Fragrances.
With the New Brazilian Music and Jazz tour, Recalling Roots aims to foster respect, understanding and awareness about different cultures thus developing multi-culture sensitivity and global mindset.
Nimisha Shankar, Founder, Recalling Roots, said, "It feels special to work with two maestros of music from different continents creating something so visceral, original and unique. We are excited about the upcoming New Brazilian Music performances in Pune and Mumbai."
With use of electronics, extended techniques and voice, Lotz painted a colorful portrait of intense beauty that reflected his life in jazz, classical and world music. Daniel Marquez who took the listeners to a universe of serene sounds of a unique voice on his Guitar, said, "My music mainly comes from compositions of Brazilian folklore but I make my own tunes out of it, trying to take it on a different level." After their solo performances, Daniel and Mark came together for restless stirrings of flute and guitar playing melodious notes, creating a rhythmic intensity that placed the listeners in a wonderful land of harmony. The duo's music was energetic and full of detail at the same time.
The tour that began in Delhi on will subsequently move to Pune and Mumbai at city's most reputed venues. The attendance to the second day event in Delhi is free and open to all.
