Concert in memory of Pulwama victims

GIMA award winning noted percussionist Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee recently presented a unique musical concert 'Music for World Peace' in the memory of Pulwama martyrs. The concert, held at Satyajit Ray Auditorium (ICCR ), was supported by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR Kolkata) and Kalayani Roy Memorial Trust. It was graced by the presence of Consul General of Japan, Masayuki Taga, noted singers like Riddhi Bandyopadhyay, Chandrima Bhattacharya and so on.

Grammy winning ace musician Padma Bhushan Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, noted santoor maestro Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee presented fusion music on world peace. Some new compositions added some new dimension to this gala performance.

Then what's next ? Noted Tagore song exponent Srabani Sen lent her voice to a Tagore song (Madhur Madhur Dhwani Baaje) with such a unique musical presentation. Besides, noted actor cum singer Saheb Chatterjee sang a Tagore song (Tomay Natun Kore Pabo Bole) with the same musical soundscape. Two more singers Sujoy Chanda and Ashish Chatterjee also rendered bengali popular and folk songs. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt performed one of his Grammy winning compositions 'Meeting By The River' followed by GIMA award winning composition 'Within You' from the Rhythm Express's album 'Moods' in which sound design and concept was by Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee. Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya performed his compositions like 'Pahadi', 'Dreams' and so on.

As a whole this musical was a treat for music buffs of the city.
