Celebration of Ghazals with Shakeel Ahmed
Audiences are invited to enjoy Rang-e-Sukhan – a celebration of Ghazal with singer-composer Shakeel Ahmed – which will be organised on February 10, 2019, at Multipurpose Hall, India International Centre, New Delhi.
During the musical evening, which will start around 6 pm, the audience will be treated with soulful Ghazals of Post-Independence era written by world-famous Shayars, acclaimed for their peerless Shayari – Nida Fazli, Jaun Eliya, Irfan Siddiqi, Khumar Barabankvi, Parveen Shakir, Munir Niazi, Ahmad Faraz. The program intends to let Shayari, through Ghazal rendition, speak for the sensibility and sensitivity which evolved in Poetic expression in the Post Partition Decades.
In the era of fusion and new age music domination, Shakeel Ahmed is a rare performer who continues to excel and please the connoisseur with his impeccably rendered traditional puritan raga based 'Gayaki'. The Ghazals, rendered by composer-Singer Shakeel Ahmed, capture the listener's heart and fire the imagination.
Born and brought up in a traditional musical "gharana" family of Delhi, Shakeel Ahmed was immersed in the musical arts from his birth and is the beneficiary of gurus who hail from the Delhi Gharana and are the repository of centuries of grooming, training, and research in the journey of Hindustani classical music.
He began performing on stage and for All India Radio at a very young age. He has given successful performances worldwide, both solo and has also performed alongside artists like Asha Bhosle, Kader Khan, Illiyaraja, and Munni Begum. Shakeel Ahmed is an extremely talented and versatile artist, who is a specialist in Ghazal gayaki. His popularity as a composer and singer spans beyond India, to countries like Pakistan, Kuwait, Dubai, etc.
His rendition of ghazals is marked by the intricacies of classical notations. He possesses an exceptional voice noted for range and sensitivity. His excellence and finesse in voice control and modulation, ability to deliver emotion convincingly, discernment in projecting the sentiment expressed by the poet, crisp and clear voice coupled with his impeccable diction of both Hindi and Urdu languages have won him accolades of the discerning listener everywhere.
