Bengali music singles to celebrate Bengali new year

25 Years and still going strong

'Ami Banglay Gaan Gai' the cult song by noted artiste Pratul Mukhopadhyay completes a journey of 25 years. It's got a household fame, loved by the bengalees across the globe for over the last 25 years. Be it any festival of Bengal, the song is an obvious choice by the performers.

The song portrays Bengal , it's essence in a vivid way. Parnava, a noted singer has come up with a version of the song as a mark of a tribute to the maker himself on completing 25 years of the song. Pratul Mukhopadhyay was present when Parnava released the song on digital platform at the senior singer's place. The music video has a wide pictorial presentation of Bengal in various ways. Pratul Mukhopadhyay said, "I created the song twenty five years back while I was an employee of an office. Never thought people would take it like this. It's now very symbolic to the Bengali culture as they celebrate songs of Tagore, other song makers who had created legendary songs revolving around Bengal, it's culture. It makes me feel great that this song also has made a room among the audience of Bengali songs. I love the initiative by Parnava of paying tribute to my original creation." To which, Parnava replied, "It's a tribute to the original creator of the song. I do consider it's a part of our life, after Tagore's 'Banglar Mati', 'Banglar Jol', this song has the aroma of our culture. So I have tried in my way to pay a tribute to Mukhopadhyay's cult creation."

On A Horse Cart

'Ajo Tumi Ele Tai' revolves around a musical love story of a music composer. The song is composed by Abhishek Basu, written by Saqi Banerjee, sung by Timir Biswas and Debanjali Chatterjee. The video is presented by Sanju Jain and produced by Delite Motion Picture. The song has feeling of the 90s Bollywood style. Here Abhishek has tried to hold back the essence of the era of 90s through his music, in both the song and the approach of the music video. The video got released on April 10, as a gift of the Bengali New Year on INRECO. This was the first time that Abhishek composed a commercial romantic Bengali single, where as all his earlier music albums so far have got the flavour of world music genres and sufi touches. To recreate nostalgia, the song which is itself a tribute to the music of the 90's got released on a horse cart.

Tanga has a close association with popular film music, lots of love songs were made on the horse cart in the past. Interestingly the cart was decorated with film posters from the 90's besides photographs of the composers from that era.

So city witnessed a unique music launch. The theme was conceived by Sudipta Chanda, while executed by noted fashion designer Tejas Gandhi.

Digital Love

'Chokheri Araley' – a sweet song by Mahuya Banerjee got released to celebrate the Bengali new year on Srinivas Music. Noted Rabindrasangeet artiste Srabani Sen, elocutionist Shovansundar Basu were present at the launch of the song. The song has been composed by noted musician Tapas Dutta ( Marco ) while lyrics has been penned by very known Gautam Sushmit.

Mahuya always tries her hand at new Bengal songs and takes challenges to prove her mettle with fresh non film Bengali songs. There was a time when non film Bengali songs were in vogue and so many artistes from the state got a huge success in this particular field of music. The scenario gradually changed, artistes started banking on Tagore songs or traditional songs to survive. This song is about today's generation who falls in love with a person not even seeing him in person, through social networking sites. This is a song all about digital friendship.
