B'desh High commission celebrates Independence Day
Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi recently celebrated the Independence and National Day with a vow to boost country's positive image abroad.
The mission paid homage to father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the independence martyrs.
In the morning, High Commissioner Syed Muazzem Ali led the flag hosting ceremony as a military band played the national anthem. It was followed by the singing of 'Amar Sonar Bangla…' which was broadcasted live from Dhaka.
Independence Day messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam were read out.
The High Commissioner and his wife Tuhfa Zaman Ali hosted a reception in the evening, where speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was the special guest, Gitesh Sharma, Secretary (West), MEA marked his presence as chief guest.
The reception, followed by dinner, was attended by diplomats, high government officials, military attaches, war veterans, elites, journalists, academics and friends of Bangladesh.
The chancery and the Bangladesh House, residence of the High Commissioner, were illuminated.
