Gone are the days when indie music didn’t enjoy a space of its own. With the mushrooming of streaming audio platforms and the social media boom, indie music has found its audience. So, ‘SVF Music’ also decided to come up with a new soundscape in Bengali. Called ‘Banglar Gaan Indies’, this is a platform that will connect audiences with a new set of indie artists and songs.

The first offering is Debayan Banerjee’s single ‘Olper Porichoy’. The five-minute video of Arnab and Trisha’s love story, played by Mir and Kiran, unfolds in this song sung by Banerjee with lyrics and composition by Niladri Banerjee.

The next song is Niranjan aka Laughtersane’s ‘Akarey Nei Bikarey Nei’. Sung by Mainak Bhattacharyya and written and composed by Pralay Sarkar, the music depicts the tale of a 21-year-old who is having trouble deciding which vocation to pursue.

“We are trying to help the new talents, be they singers, songwriters or music producers, get exposure and utilise alternative instrumentation, such as jangling guitars and may borrow from disparate genres,” said Mahendra Soni, co-founder and director of SVF.
