An important message through comedy twist

Doordarshan along with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation launched 'Chalo Saaf Karen' – a one of a kind show that revolves around cleanliness and sanitation with a comic twist. The objective of this show is to make people understand the concept and importance of cleanliness in an entertaining and engaging manner, and help them adopt it in their everyday lives.

The curtain raiser episode, to introduce the show to the viewers, aired on January 18, which will be followed by the series from January 19. The laughter riot will come back every weekends at 10 pm on DD National.

The launch was attended by important personalities like P K Subhash, ADG, Delhi Doordarshan; Aswini Kumar, Producer of the show; Rashmi Desai, actor; Rakesh Bedi, actor; Akshay Raut, DG, MInistry of Drinking Water and Sanitation; Anita Raj, actor; rajiv Singh, Member Finance, Prasar Bharti; Supriya Sahoo, DG, Doordarshan; N S Thomas, ADG, Mumbai Doordarshan. The series is based in a village named Albelaganj, its cleanliness and hygiene issues. The show will see, Rashmi Desai, in the role of 'Palak', the protagonist of the story, who is a strong follower of Gandhian ideology and Swachhta. Aruna Irani would be seen portraying the role of Dadi, whereas, Anita Raj as the Maharani and Raghubir Yadav as Vijay Jasoos to keep the laughter meter soaring high as they go about bringing a change in the approach of residents of the village.

Apart from Anita Raj, Aruna Irani, Raghubir Yadav, the show features Bollywood actors like Rakesh Bedi, Gopi Bhalla, Upasana Singh, Shashi Kiran and Birbal Khosla, with a few new entries like Mukesh Tiwari, thus making it one of the biggest star cast in Doordarshan's shows since a long time.

Doordarshan teased it's viewers for quite some time, to identify the program's lead, who was revealed to be Rashmi Desai of 'Uttaran' fame, in the recently launched promos. Ashish Lal is paired opposite to her, as the male lead.

The show looks like a refreshing and promising start to the New Year.

Doordarshan with the Ministry of Sanitation and Drinking water will soon be launching another show- 'Safar Manzilo ka', wherein Manoj Bajpai, as our celebrity anchor, will bring to light the journey of unsung heroes of cleanliness.
