Father rapes 11-year-old daughter, held

In yet another case of crime committed against minors, a 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. The incident came to light after the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother on Monday night.

The girl was sent for a medical examination, which reportedly suggested that she was sexually assaulted, and later given counselling by an NGO in the presence of her mother.

The 35-year-old accused was arrested by the police immediately under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, said a police official.

The accused, who is a tailor, had allegedly been raping the girl for the past three months and also threatened her of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone. He lives with his wife, three daughters and a son. The victim was his eldest daughter and studies in Class VI at a public school in the same locality.

It was the victim’s mother who approached the police station and the accused was unaware of that. He was later arrested from his residence, the police official added.
