Father of abandoned girls had killed their 2-year-old brother, arrested
A day after the plight of two minor girls who were found starving and infested with maggots was highlighted by the media, Delhi Police on Saturday arrested their father. Sources said that Bunty (father) killed his two-year-old son and dumped his body in the Munak Canal. Meanwhile, police are investigating if he has also killed his wife, Rosy, who fled with her paramour months ago.
Foul smell emanating from the room raised doubts among neighbours who informed the police. After a police team reached the spot, they found that the two minor girls were lying on a broken cot, surrounded by maggots and their own excreta.
According to police sources, two-and-a-half-months after Rosy, mother of the minor girls, allegedly left home with her two-year-old son, on August 15, Bunty in a state of rage locked the minor girls without food and water.
Sources said that Bunty somehow traced his two-year-old son and killed him on August 18, a day before Delhi Police rescued the two minor girls. After killing his son, he dumped his body at Munak which was found by the cops on the same day.
“We have found the body of a two-year-old boy in the Canal. Since it was unidentified, we sent it to the mortuary. 72 hours passed but no one came forward to claim it so we performed the last rites.
On August 19, based on the call made by Bunty’s neighbour, we rescued the eight-year-old and the three-year-old girls who were found surrounded by maggots in a dark and dingy room,” said a police official, privy to the investigation.
According to the police, they have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC against Bunty at Samaypur Badli police station. Sources added that the cops got to know that Bunty, who worked in a nearby factory, was hiding in the slums of Bawana Industrial area. Based on the tip-off, the police raided his whereabouts and arrested him. Police sources meanwhile, said: “During sustained interrogation, he revealed that his wife left home with their two-year-old son. When the police showed him the boy’s picture, he broke down and confessed that he had smothered his son with his own hands and dumped it in the Munak Canal.”
