FASTag system launched from Kherki Dhaula toll plaza

The cashless payment mechanism called the FASTag system was launched on Monday from the Kherki Dhaula toll plaza. The service is already available at 303 toll plazas on the National Highways across the country.

According to the information received from officials at the plaza, around 75,000 vehicles cross the toll booth everyday out of which around 23 per cent are tag users. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has reserved three lanes out of 11 on each side of the carriageway for FASTag users on the
Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, which is in contrast to other highway tolls where only one lane is usually reserved for tag users.

These lanes were used by around 17,000 vehicles on the first day according to sources. The concessionaire has issued 16,000 smart tags to the Expressway users. Out of these, 8,000 are free tags given to residents of 31 villages, who are exempted from toll.
