Criticising Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid for daring Arvind Kejriwal to stage a protest in Farrukhabad, Bhartiya Kisan Union [Tikait group] on Sunday vowed to thwart any attempt to harm the social activist during his visit to the district on 1 November.
Khurshid's recent statement was strongly condemned in a meeting of the organisation yesterday, and a decision was taken to protect Kejriwal and his team, General Secretary of BKU Laxmi Shanker Joshi said.
During Kejriwal's visit to Khurshid's parliamentary constituency on November 1, lathi-clad farmers would be deployed to protect him, he said adding, if any person attempts to create disturbance then a reply would be made in the same vein.
Meanwhile, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has warned of serious consequences if any disruption was created during Kejriwal's visit.
In a clear challenge to Kejriwal, Khurshid had dared him to stage a protest in his constituency and had said 'let him also return from Farrukhabad'. 'I have been made the Law Minister and asked to work with the pen. I will work with the pen but also with blood,' he said at a closed-door function in Delhi whose footage was aired by some news channels.
KHURSHID PUTS OFF HAJ PILGRIMAGE
Law Minister Salman Khurshid has put off his Haj pilgrimage, according to sources close to him. His decision to put off the week-long visit for Haj also comes amid speculation of an impending reshuffle in the Union Cabinet. Khurshid was to leave to for Haj on Sunday and was to return at the end of the next week. He has been under attack from Kejriwal following a TV sting which alleged that the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust run by him and his wife had misappropriated funds meant for providing equipment to the disabled.
