Hundreds of commuters were left stranded for hours at Pari Chowk as farmers of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) bloke traffic on Thursday, demanding their dues from mill owners.
The sugarcane farmers also blocked traffic in Jewer and Sutiyana village of Greater Noida.
‘Sugarcane farmers of the state have not got their dues from sugar mills. The ignorant behaviour of the mill authorities is not tolerable. We cannot bear this anymore and will start state-wide agitation if the dues are not paid,’ said Ajay Pal, president of BKU president.Â
The farmers have been protesting for last ten days, but on Thursday they blocked the roads which halted the vehicular movement for almost two hours.
‘We are bound to protest and will protest against the government and the mill authorities till our dues are not paid’, he added further.
Later, the police along with administrative officials reached the spot to pacify agitating farmers.
