Family of six injured in lift accident

Six persons, including three women and two children, had a narrow escape in Indirapuram when a lift of an aparment came crashing down on Wednesday morning , its cable snapping free.
According to the police, the incident happened at around 10.45 am when Ashish Chug, 45, and his family and relatives were using the lift. They entered the lift at the fifth floor. As the lift was descending towards the first floor, its cable broke and it came crashing down the second basement. The occupants of the lift suffered from minor injuries.
The injured were identififed as Ashish Chug, his wife Vandana, sister Rita, sister in law Meenakshi, son Manthan and dauthter Isha.
‘We are issuing notices to all the apparments for proper maintenance of their lifts. A special drive will be launched lift owners who do not maintain their properly, will be fined,’ said Gorakh Nath Yadav, inspector of Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad.
‘The injured were rushed to Shanti Gopal hospital in Indirapuram and were released after treatment,’ added Yadav.
