Family of Henning accuses UK govt of not doing much to save him

Henning’s widow Barbara said the family were ‘numb with grief’. Colin Livesey, Henning’s brother-in-law, said he was ‘angry’ at the government. Livesey feels the government could have done more to save both Henning and David Haines, another British hostage killed by ISIS. ‘I just don’t think they did enough, in my eyes.’ Livesey said.

Livesey had earlier expressed fears that the recent air strikes in Syria on Isis led by US would make it harder to find and rescue Henning, the father of two children.

Livesey had said ‘It does scare me. Because if they’re going to do air strikes on them, they’ll just run away. They’ll take him with them and no one will know where he is again. Time will tell if it’s worked. I don’t want to lose the faith in knowing he’s coming home.’’

Meanwhile after hearing of the beheading, Barbara said ‘Alan, my husband, and father of Lucy and Adam, was kidnapped in Syria in December last year. Last night we received news of his murder by ISIL.
