Family murdered: Two arrests made

Police have arrested two accused Sachin (30) and Beer Singh (42) on Sunday for killing three members of a family inside their house in south Delhi. Police have hinted that the incident happened due to a long and personal rivalry.

Om Prakash, his wife Shanti Devi, both in their late 50s, and their 21-year-old son Rinku were attacked by a group of armed men at their house in south Delhi’s Jaitpur area late on Saturday night. Rinku died on the spot, while his parents died later at the hospital.

Police received the information at approximately 9:56 pm and reached the spot (Om Nagar colony in Jaitpura area) immediately. According to police, ‘assailants were on a motorcycle and tried to shoot other members of the family. However Rinku’s younger (Tinku) and elder brother (Pinku), along with his wife Sarita, managed to run away and save their lives.’

According to Tinku, ‘Rinku works in an export company. He came home directly from work. On the street he was arguing with two people who later on  were accompanied by two more persons. Shots were then fired on my brother. We heard the shots and tried to come downstairs, but they started firing at us as well. They tried to enter our house but Sarita did not let them open the door’.

According to other family members, they had a fight last year on Karva Chaut and Diwali with neighbours. They were arrested after a complaint was made. However, they were soon released.
The investigating team have collected more than a dozen empty bullet shells. Police said this is the case of personal rivalry and they are investigating the matter. The remaining accused are absconding and on the run.
