'False cases against farmers will be withdrawn'

Reaching out to farmers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said all false cases registered during agitation against land acquisition will be withdrawn and vowed to help people who are on the brink of losing their agricultural land due to inability pay debts.

‘We have withdrawn cases registered against farmers in Tappal agitation. If any case is still left against farmers, it would be taken back by the government,’ Yadav said while addressing an election meeting here in Bajna town of Mat Assembly constituency. Announcing a slew of measures for the benefit of the farming community, the chief minister said that he was trying hard to fulfill all poll promises.

‘We have made arrangements for fertilisers in advance for the farmers. Officers showing indifference towards the problems of farmers would not be spared. Farmers would be offered better prices of their produce in future and would not face shortage of bagsm’ he said.

On the debt-ridden farmers, he said ‘now farmers will not be forced to sell their land to repay their debt. If a farmer's land has been mortgaged, the loan would be waived off to save his land from being sold.

‘Promises made during the election are being fulfilled. Now there would be separate feeder for rural and urban areas. This would pave the way for more power to farmers.’

He said to ensure more power to farmers, foundation stone of a new power plant in collaboration with the Centre will be laid in Kanpur.
