Fake EWS certificate racket busted, two arrested

Delhi Police Crime Branch have busted another module in the fake EWS fake certificate admission scam on Thursday and arrested two members of the gang, police said on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Arun Kumar and Hukum Singh, residents of Mangolpuri. 

According to police, this is the third module that has been unearthed by Delhi Police in the last one month. With the latest arrests, <g data-gr-id="20">number</g> of those who have landed in the police <g data-gr-id="21">net in this case</g> has climbed to seven.

Recently, Neeraj was arrested by Delhi Police who was allegedly involved in managing 10 admissions in Lancer Convent School in Rohini under the EWS quota using fake documents. During interrogation, he took the name of Arun Kumar who was arrested on Thursday after Neeraj tip-offed about his whereabouts. 

“The computer and printer used for preparing fake EWS certificates and residence proof <g data-gr-id="27">has</g> been recovered,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said. During <g data-gr-id="26">examination</g> of some parents, names of Ratan and Hukum Singh had surfaced as the persons involved in such admissions. 

Hukum, who had secured two admissions in Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura, was then traced. “On interrogating Hukum and confronting him with Ratan and Rajeev Aggarwal, it was revealed that he used to get the certificates/documents from the SDM office at Kanjhawla on the basis of commission. Later on, he got in touch with Bhupender, who provided him certificates without going to the SDM office,” he added.

Once, when Hukum had gone to Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura for the admission of his neighbour’s daughter, he came to know that many parents wanted their children admitted to the school “at any cost” and knew that <g data-gr-id="23">Bhupender</g> could prepare fake documents.
