Two youths were arrested from the national capital for running a fake admission racket in schools, on Thursday. The accused charged Rs 4,000 from students’ parents and assured them of admission in Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya.
Amit Kumar, 32, and Pankaj Choudhary, 24, residents of Uttam Nagar in west Delhi, were arrested from their home on Wednesday, said Additional Commissioner of Police (west) V Renganathan. They run a tuition centre, Sai Ram Institute.
‘With their arrest, a big fake admission racket was busted and 17 fake admission forms and Rs 37,000 were recovered,’ said Renganathan.
The incident came to light on Wednesday when G B Mathur, Principal of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalya, located in Viakspuri, three children were not wearing uniform, during a random checking of students after assembly.
On asking them, they replied that they have been recently admitted in the school. Mathur then called admission in-charge Rajender Kumar and on checking of school records, he confirmed that they were not the students of the school.
On further questioning, these students revealed that Amit Kumar arranged for their admission in the school after paying a certain amount. These boys of class IX and XI stated that some other students have also been admitted in the school through Amit Kumar. Those students were also called. All of them revealed Kumar’s name. In all, there were 17 such students in the school.
Mathur immediately called their parents and Kumar in the school. The parents identified kumar and said they offered him Rs 4,000-8000 to him. Mathur then informed about the incident to the police.
Police found that Kumar, in connivance with Pankaj Choudhary, cheated students on the pretext of admission in Sarvodyaa Bal Vidyalaya .
