Fadnavis photo: Cops get in touch with Twitter

Police have contacted Twitter, seeking information on an old photograph of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and his family that was recently uploaded on the micro-blogging site, allegedly to malign his image. A police official said on Friday that one person had been arrested in the case. However, police on Saturday clarified that no arrest have been made yet.

“After we get the reply from Twitter officials (as to who uploaded the photo and the location from where it was uploaded) our investigation would proceed,” said Dhananjay Kulkarni, spokesperson of Mumbai Police. A 2012 photograph of Fadnavis, his wife and daughter on a yacht was recently circulated on social media platforms, including the Twitter, suggesting Fadnavis was enjoying with the family while on an official tour of US last week. A complaint was lodged by Sanjay Pandey, a BJP worker, alleging it was an attempt to slander the Chief Minister.
