Factory making fake syrup busted

On Wednesday,Ghaziabad police had raided a factory that allegedly manufacture spurious 'Hamdard Safi'. The factory was active in Sikri Kalan area of Modinagar in Ghaziabad. Five persons were arrested in this case.
The factory functioned in a rented room. They have been manufacturing fake Hamdard Safi for many months, now. Hamdard Safi is a well-established and trusted herbal drink. It is marketed as a blood purifier as well as herbal remedy for digestive and skin disorders. But the fake Hamdard Safi was prepared using a lot of chemicals.
'Harish, along with three other persons, was running this illegal factory and manufactured artificial Hamdard Safi. With the help of a tip-off, we managed to put a stop to this. We conducted a raid in the morning as we were informed that the accused would be available at that time. During the raid, five persons were apprehended. Later, the ayurvedic officials were called to conduct a test of the samples,' said Prashant Kumar, SSP City (Ghaziabad).
Hari Shankar, an ayurvedic doctor, said that in the test, it was proved that the sample from the confiscated bottles were prepared with the help of chemicals. These chemicals are used to get a similar colour and fragrance, but are harmful when consumed, he added.
'A case has been registered by the police and further investigations are being carried out to find out about their distribution network so that we could confiscate other fake Hamdard Safis from the market before they reach the consumers,'Â the police official said.
