Facing action, Azam calls EC Congress agent

Taken to task for his hate speeches, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Sunday hit out at Election Commission (EC). On directions of the commission, two FIRs have been lodged against Khan.

The election authorities lodged the second FIR on Saturday night in Thana Bhawan police station of Shamli district. Earlier, an FIR was lodged against Khan in Ghaziabad under IPC for promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion and race, imputations and assertions prejudicial to national integration and deliberate and malicious act to outrage religious feelings. Besides, the commission has also banned Khan from making any public appearance and participating in any election meeting during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Facing the heat, Khan on Sunday attacked the commission saying the poll panel was acting at the behest of Congress government at the Centre. ‘The Election Commission will have to prove its integrity,’ Azam said threatening to knock the doors of the court against the poll panel.
