Uttar Pradesh government on Friday claimed that all necessary facilities have been provided in the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts where 4783 people are still putting up. ‘The relief camp is just a temporary place to stay and the people living their could face some problems. But we have tried our best to provide all necessary facilities,’ said chief secretary Jawed Usmani here.

Addressing a press conference, Usmani did not give figure of deaths of children as reported in the media recently but said a committee under the chairmanship of Meerut divisional commissioner has been set up and it will give the exact number of the deaths and the reason behind the casulty within a short period.

Report claims that around two dozen children have died in the relief camps in the recent past due to poor arrangements and lack of medical facilities in these camps.

Usmani said that presently there are just 4783 people in five relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts and the government have spent over Rs 94.16 crores for providing compensation, relief and arrangements in the relief camps.
