Eyeing UP polls, RSS to meet next month

The Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS) is going to organise a 4-day meet from July 12 to 15 in Kanpur.  Sangh supremo Mohan Bhagwat and all Pracharaks from the respective states will take part in the meet.

According to sources, the core group of RSS will meet on July 12 and 13. The prime focus will be to strengthen the Sangh’s organisational structure. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah is also likely to attend the meet for a day, as the party is set to seek the RSS’ help to work at the ground level in the poll-bound states, sources said. The strategy for all five poll-bound states, especially, of UP will be discussed in the meet.  The RSS has already started micromanaging poll strategy and holding consultations with key stakeholders in UP.

Sunil Bansal, Om Mathur, and several other BJP leaders, who have an RSS background, were brought to the war room in Lucknow by Shah who discussed the UP poll strategy with them.

The RSS men ‘loaned’ to the party are involved in planning, giving shape to programmes and guiding the cadre in all poll-bound states. However, they have no personal political interests, they maintain an objective approach detached from any differences within the organisation. Their shift from the Sangh to organisational roles in the party does not alter this approach.
