Eyeing polls, AAP, BJP indulge in squabble

Delhi BJP and AAP exchanged barbs over arrest of Delhi unit secretary of AAP Dilip Pandey in connection with inflammatory posters in Jamia Nagar area of South East Delhi. Both the leaders called press conferences on the issue and spewed venom against each other which is being as a warm up exercise for preparation of Delhi assembly elections.

‘BJP government at the Centre is misusing police to suppress AAP as we exposed their efforts to purchase our MLAs,’ said Manish Sisodia, senior AAP leader. He further argued that AAP had nothing to do with the disputed posters and there was nothing inflammatory in the posters issued by AAP.
‘There are several posters and counter posters in the city but why action was taken against AAP leaders only,’ he contested while admitting that some AAP volunteers had accepted to paste posters but police police had not arrested them.

Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh went on to say that Modi government is trying to implement Gujarat model of encounters in the entire country.

‘AAP has completely lost its political ground and is hell bent to spoil the communal harmony in the city. The arrest was made on the basis of video clips and other proofs. Hence, the question of political pressure does not arise. The allegations of Arvind Kejriwal and his party are just a bundle of lies,’ said Satish Upadhayay, Delhi BJP president.

He reminded AAP leaders relationships with terrorists, naxals and anti-national forces.

‘This is not for the first time that the AAP leaders have tried to vitiate the communal harmony or supported those people who want to spread communalism.

‘During the elections for Delhi Legislative Assembly, they questioned the decision on Batla House encounter and pamphlets were distributed requesting a particular community to vote for his party,’ he added.

Upadhyay said that now the time has come when we should stop taking Arvind Kejriwal seriously because his only objective is to keep himself in the media and speak something for the sake of speaking only.
