Ex-servant, two others held for elderly woman’s murder

According to the police, Dheeraj, one of the prime accused used to work as the caretaker of Krishna Devi’s husband in the past. To make quick money, he along with his friends Aman Kumar and Hansraj hatched a plan to rob Devi.
Since Dheeraj knew the house well, he along with his friends robbed Rs 12 worth jewellery and cash. When she resisted, they strangled her with her dupatta. Meanwhile, police managed to recover Rs 6.58 lakhs from them and the vehicle used by the accused. However, one of the accused, Sumit is still abscondingOn July 7 at around 5.30 pm, police received a PCR call that an elderly woman has been murdered in her house in A-block area of Paschim Vihar. The victim, Krishna Devi was rushed to Balaji Action hospital where she was declared brought dead, said police on Monday.
During the course of investigation, cops got to know that Krishna Devi’s husband died a year back and she had no children. In the absence of her children, her nephew Chunni Lal used to manage her business of sanitary tools and equipment and stayed with her. Preliminary investigation indicated that the house was ransacked and the entry of the accused was friendly.
“Our team turned suspicious towards the caretakers and maids who were employed with the victim. Based on which, they interrogated all the caretakers and finally when they questioned Dheeraj, their suspicion grew stronger and apprehended him,” said a senior police officer.
