Ex-Oz PM Kevin Rudd retires from politics

In a surprise move, Australia’s former prime minister Kevin Rudd today retired from politics saying ‘it really is time for me to zip’, months after being dethroned by conservative leader Tony Abbott.
Rudd, an MP since 1998, said the ‘slings and arrows’ of political life had taken its toll and he will leave Parliament at the end of this week.
