Ex-BJP MLA of Odisha files plaint with cops over fake FB account of daughter

A complaint was reportedly received by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police against unknown persons for uploading pictures of the daughter of former BJP MP of Odisha Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo without her consent. The MP’s daughter, married to Udaipur’s Royal family, had gone to her paternal family home in Odisha to attend Dussehra Puja.  

According to the complaint filed by Deo, pictures of her daughter, while she was attending Dussehra Puja have been used in the Facebook account in the name Samaira Mewar.  The account has allegedly used the complainant’s daughter’s picture as the profile picture on the Facebook account. Moreover, her daughter’s picture, used in the fake Facebook account also have objectionable comments superimposed on it, said police sources.

According to reliable Delhi Police sources, Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, former Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Odisha, filed a complaint on May 11 on behalf of her daughter. Situated in Odisha, the former MP’s office is in Delhi. Based on a complaint filed by the former MP, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police have reportedly registered a case against unknown persons.

Millennium Post is in possession of the FIR copy in which it is mentioned that a case has been registered under Sections 66C (punishment for identity theft) and 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act at the Cyber Cell of Economic Offences Wing regarding the same.
