Even 6 months after disaster, state still struggles: BJP

Leader of Opposition in legislative assembly Ajay Bhatt said in a press conference in state BJP head office on Tuesday.  He added that in Kedarnath Valley, from the past six months, the road route from Sonprayag to Gaurikund has not been prepared yet, and surprisingly they are talking of winter pilgrimage. The condition of trek route from Gaurikund to Kedarnath shrine is worst. In Urgam valley of Chamoli district, 50 metre of damaged road has not been repaired. In the Pittoragarh district, two dozen villages in Darama and Chauras valley are looking for rehabilitation and many are living in tents.

He said that in Kedar valley nearly 1800 small and big shop-keepers, comprising of 150 big shopkeepers, 1080 mediocre shop-keepers and 600 prasad-selling shop-keepers living in slums has not received even a single penny from the state government relief fund. The business community representatives met former home secretary VK Duggal and also nodal officer for relief and rescue operations in rain-ravaged uttarakhand, and the later assured them of providing one crore package separately.  But they have not got anything till date.

The government made announcement that in lieu of fabricated huts, the disaster-hit owners of the damaged house will receive Rs 5 Lakhs. They are still waiting for relief money, and the time of snowfall has begun.

He criticised ruling government for telling lies to the nation that there are no dead bodies in the valley. Still hundreds of dead bodies are lying in the holy valley. Now, they are making GSI the scapegoat for their failure. From the past six months, this government agency has not submitted its report to the Centre.
