Europe regained the Seve Trophy for the first time since 2000 when they won a thrilling match 15-13 against Great Britain and Ireland on Sunday. Italian Francesco Molinari secured the decisive point in the final match when he defeated Englishman Chris Wood with a birdie putt on the 16th green to win 3 and 2. Jose Maria Olazabal, who played under the late tournament founder Severiano Ballesteros when Europe won the maiden tournament, added another distinguished honour to his Ryder Cup triumph last year as captain. Frenchman Gregory Bourdy played a heroic role for Europe by setting a new tournament record of winning all five of his matches.
