Padmaavat: 'The movie will receive an earth-shattering response'

Three actors, who play titular role in Bhansali’s period drama, are overwhelmed by the response Padmaavat has received till now. They are confident that the movie will keep on garnering applause.

Mumbai: Deepika Padukone, whose much-awaited film Padmaavat finally released on Thursday, is confident that the movie will create box-office records.

The actor, who plays the titular role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed period drama, said she is overwhelmed by the response the film has received till now. The movie was shown to journalists in Delhi and Mumbai on January 23.

"I am extremely overwhelmed and emotional right now. I think this film has been through so much. To see that the film is finally releasing and to see the kind of reactions that the film is getting, reactions to my performance, it is extremely overwhelming," she told reporters in Mumbai recently.
The actor was speaking at the red carpet of Hindustan Time's 'India's Most Stylish' awards in Mumbai.
Padmaavat, which also features Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, has been mired in controversy since last year when Bhansali started filming the project in Rajashtan and was roughed up by the members of Rajput Karni Sena. The Rajput group
had claimed that the film distorts history and defames their queen Padmavati as well as Rajput pride.
The movie was earlier scheduled to be released on December 1. However, the makers, Viacom 18 and Bhansali Productions, had to postpone the date as they did not receive a censor certificate. The censor board had suggested five modifications, including a title change from Padmavati to Padmaavat.
Padmaavat is a film India can be proud of: Ranveer
Mumbai: Amid widespread protests against Padmaavat, the film's lead actor Ranveer Singh said that he is proud to feature in a movie, the whole country can take pride in.
Padmaavat, directed by Bhansali, has finally released but the controversies that sparked last year have not left it till date. Ranveer, who will be essaying the character of Khilji took to Twitter to thank the praise coming his way.

"I saw Padmaavat in 3D last night. I am so overwhelmed with the film at this point that words fail me. I feel immensely blessed. I am so proud of my team. High tens and monster hugs to everyone. I am relieved and happy to the reactions to my performance," he tweeted.
'Padmaavat' stands for entire film industry right now: Shahid
Mumbai: Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is happy for the release of his film Padmaavat across the country, says that the film stands for the entire industry right now. Shahid was asked to comment on the unrest which is going on across the country due to the film's release.
He said: "From the beginning, we have been saying that at least allow us to show our film and don't have preconceived notions. Now Supreme Court has also given the judgment that the film must be released everywhere. Not just for Padmaavat but for every film, Supreme Court has said that ban shouldn't be imposed on films. "So, I think Padmaavat stands for the entire film industry right now because there should be freedom of creativity."
