Going Big With Rakshassi
After enthralling audience with superhit songs like ‘Saree Ke Fall Sa’ and ‘Selfie Le Le Re’, Nakash Aziz is back with his new tune ‘Rakshassi’ from Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0
Singer Nakash Aziz has given us many songs in the past, now he is back with a big film in 2.0, where he is collaborating once more with music maestro AR Rahman. "I have always shared a warm equation with Rahman sir, and it's such an enriching experience working with him. Whenever I have sung for him or worked with him, I have always been amazed by his energy and enthusiasm. His commitment is exemplary," says Aziz.
His song Rakshassi from the Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer has just released. "Rakshassi is a big song in terms of scale, and to sing for such a huge project is surreal. It's a one-of-a-kind song and very different from what I have sung in the past."
The singer also worked with rapper-singer Blaaze on this song.
"It was an honour to be sharing a song with Blaaze because he is a fantastic musician and a great artiste. He is also one of the first people to introduce English rap into commercial, mainstream Bollywood and Tamil cinema… Indian music, basically. I have been following his work for years and singing alongside him felt amazing. He is such a talented artiste to work with," Aziz recollects.
Being a composer helps Aziz work with other musicians.
"I believe I'm a composer's singer and I try to follow the composer's vision completely. I offer inputs only if I get a sense that they are looking for them. But, at the end of the day, I completely surrender to the music composer and/or the director, if he or she is present. I enjoy that process because I feel great when certain things are asked of me, and I am always pushed to do something that I probably never thought of."
Singing in languages apart from Hindi has never been an issue for Aziz. Asked how he does it, he reveals, "Language isn't a barrier, really. There are teams that help us with pronunciation during the recording. The key is to get the mood of the song right. I understand the lyrics first and then work on the pronunciation."
Talking about his upcoming projects, Aziz shares, "I am a little superstitious when it comes to announcing what's coming next. I love doing music every day and don't really look into what's going to and what's not going to release. I don't like to pressurising myself like that."
Nakash is known for some of the superhit songs like 'Saree Ke Fall Sa', 'Dhaating Naach', 'Selfie Le Le Re', 'Afghan Jalebi' among others.
