B'wood celebrities donate to PM's Relief Fund

Soon after PM Narendra Modi announced the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) on March 28, Bollywood celebrities came forward to contribute their bit to help the Indian Government for the cause of combatting against the deadly coronavirus.Anushka Sharma and husband, cricketer Virat Kohli pledged to support the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and Chief Minister's (Maharashtra) Relief Fund in the ongoing attle against the Coronavirus pandemic. According to a source in the industry, Virat and Anushka have jointly donated Rs 3 crore towards the cause.

Kartik Aaryan also contributed Rs 1 crore to PM-CARES fund in support of the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. T-series honcho Bhushan Kumar also came forward and donated Rs 11 crore to the PM CARES Fund and Rs 1 crore to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund, Maha- rashtra to lend support to the ongoing battle against the Coronavi- rus pandemic. Kumar wrote on Twitter, "Today, we are all at a really crucial stage and it's extremely important to do all we can to help. I, along with my entire @TSeries family pledge to donate Rs 11 crores to the PM-CARES Fund. We can and will fight this together, Jai Hind @PMOIndia @narendramodi #IndiaFightsCorona." Superstar Akshay Kumar, who took to Twitter recently about doing his bit to donate to PM-CARES Fund, contributed Rs 25 crores. "This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to Narendra Modiji's PM-CARES FUND.

Let's save lives, jaan hai toh jahaan hai," Akshay tweeted on March 28. Actor Varun Dhawan took a pledge to contribute 30 lakh to the PM-CARES fund. He said "We will overcome this.

Desh hai toh hum hain." inger Guru Randhawa too announced that he will be donating Rs 20 lakhs to the fund. Actor Hrithik Roshan contributed Rs 20 lakh to the Maharashtra government to provide masks and other protective gear for the BMC workers and caretakers. "In times such as these, we must do what we must do whatever we can to ensure the safety of the most fundamental care- akers of our city and society.

I have procured N95 and FFP3 masks for our BMC workers and ther caretakers," he tweeted.

Comedy king Kapil Sharma also announced a donation of Rs 50 lakh to the PM relief fund.
