Arshad Warsi is all geared up to make the audience laugh till they cry with another power–packed performance in Golmaal Again. In an interview, the unassuming and friendly Arshad, who is amazingly easy to get along with, talks about the 11 years long journey with the team of Golmaal. "The whole idea of four of us getting back together fills me up with enthusiasm and energy," says the actor, who has been associated with the franchise since the very starting.
Talking about the changes that have come with time and the new elements incorporated in the movie, the Jolly LLB star says that with every movie, we have tried to improvise our humour quotient. "With time, the consideration of the audience became more prominent and we began paying attention to even the minutest of details. While making the first part, we hardly paid any head to the story but, the fantabulous response evidently proved that movie buffs actually loved the characters of the movie. Thereafter, the characters took the forefront and began to cater the audience directly."
Speaking further, he says, "so, now, we intend to bring out something for the audience; something that they would love to see." Golmaal Again is the fourth installment of the franchise and is made at a much bigger scale as compared to last parts. But how to make this tough call of turning a movie into a series?
Answering the question, Warsi, who left everyone speechless with his performance in Jolly LLB said, "We can only make series out of the movies that succeed in bonding characters to the audiences. Story of Ishqiya, revolved around Vidya Balan. But people enjoyed Khaalu and Babban so much that we had to make another part that majorly focused on these two quirky characters.
From playing highly intense roles to purely comical characters, Arshad has proved himself as a versatile actor. Elaborating on how he manages to get into a specific character, Arshad says, "Everyone has their own formats of working. People do classes and workshops, but mine is the weirdest of all. I don't do any of it. But that doesn't mean I don't work; I just work differently. The moment I hear the story and gets to know about my character, it stays in my head all the time."
Bollywood is observing a trend of recreating old songs that had been a big hit back then. One such number is 'Neend Churayi meri…' from Golmaal again, which is topping the charts ever since its release. Are filmmakers playing safe by incorporating such melodies to garner audience's attention? Well, Arshad highly disagrees with that and feels songs are mere gimmicks. "You cannot expect the movie to be a blockbuster owing to the songs it contains," said Arshad who is also excited for the next part of Munna Bhai series.
Golmaal Again is set to release on October 20.
