Huma Qureshi, who is known for her stellar performances in films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Monica, O My Darling’, recently opened up about pay parity among actors in the Indian film industry, which is mostly influenced by star power. She said that bigger stars often command higher paychecks, regardless of the length or importance of their roles.

“The conventional way is that the bigger the star, the more money they take home, oftentimes even when their screen time is shorter and their roles are smaller,” Huma stated in a podcast ‘AfterHours with All About Eve’.

She further openly expressed her assumption that Alia Bhatt, who is known for her stellar performances and widespread popularity, would command a higher fee regardless of the size of her part.

“Alia Bhatt will draw more money than others, even if her part is small. I am assuming that she was the highest-paid actor in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’,” Huma stated.

In the same interview, Huma also addressed the trolling that Deepika Padukone received after she admitted to seeing other men while she was dating Ranveer Singh. Defending the actor, she said, “Ab kya bol sakte hai? Ridiculous!” She also talked about the trolling culture in today's society, where individuals are subjected to criticism for every aspect of their lives, no matter their actions.

Sharing her own approach to dealing with online negativity, Huma revealed that she refrains from engaging with comments about herself on the internet.

On the work front, Huma will be next seen in her third season of ‘Maharani’ which features the return of Rani Bharti with a powerful narrative wielding the weapon of education.
