The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed the UP government to ensure that the national flag is hoisted at madrasas across the state on Independence Day and Republic Day.
A Bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Yashwant Verma passed the order, directing the state government to “issue necessary directions in this regard”.
The order came on a PIL filed by Arun Gaur, a resident of Aligarh, who had requested for issuing directions to ensure that the Tricolour hoisting ceremony was held at madrasas on August 15 and January 26 in the same way as done at government offices. The court, while issuing the directions, also asked the state to file its counter-affidavit on the PIL and fixed September 22 as the next date of hearing.
