Emirates slapped fine for poor service

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) had lodged a case in a Consumer Court against Emirates Airlines for deficiency in service to the IIFT director, while he was travelling to Dar-es-Salaam from Delhi to preside over a convocation.

Before boarding the flight, he had already informed the Emirates staff that he was carrying some important documents in his luggage which were required for the convocation in Dar-es-Salaam. However, the Emirates management did not bother to take proper care of his luggage, and the documents went missing in Dar-es-Salaam.

Despite repeated calls for five days, the Emirates management failed to provide any information on the lost documents. Miffed at the callous attitude of Emirates, IIFT had lodged a case in the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in New Delhi.

The court in its judgement on July 13, <g data-gr-id="17">2015</g> had found Emirates guilty of being insensitive to its passengers and had slapped a fine for harassment, mental trauma and inconvenience caused by them.
