A three-day festival of Punjabi folk and sufi, music and dance titled Baisakhi Mela 2015 is to be held in the Capital. The event is organised by Punjabi Academy in collaboration of the Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi. Renowned artistes like Shipra Goyal, Master Saleem, Ali Brothers, Harshdeep Kaur, Hardy Sandhu and Ammy Virk.
April 10 will have Shipra Goyal and Master Saleem belting out their best tracks to celebrate the spirit of the season. Ali Brothers and Harshdeep Kaur will take the stage on April 11. And April 12 will witness the performances by Hardy Sandhu and Ammy Virk.
Dance performances like - Gatka, Bazi, Dhadi, Naqal, Gidha and Bhangra will caught you to the festive mood. Apart from that display and sale of traditional Punjabi artifacts such as phulkari, jutti, nate parande, bangles, wooden furniture and inlay items will be held. To savour the flavours of Punjab a Punjabi food plaza is also created.
Goyal who is going to perform at the event was born in 1991, into a musical family. Her parents are Punjabi singers. Singing has been her passion since childhood. He recently represented India in Europe's Flower Carnival among 11 countries. Her versatility makes her unique as she can sing in from Punjabi to English to Hindi numbers and from classical to western.
Master Saleem, sometimes referred as Saleem Shahzad, is an Indian singer from Punjab, known for his work as a playback singer in Bollywood films, like Heyy Babyy, Dostana and Love Aaj Kal. He began at a tender age with the rendition of Charkhe Di Ghook.
Harshdeep Kaur is an Indian playback singer known for her Sufi songs. Kaur was in a Sikh family in Delhi and inherited music from her father, Savinder Singh. She started learning music at the age of six. She learnt Indian classical music and western classical music. She is famous for her Sufi genre songs. She has performed with some of the leading music directors including A R Rahman, Amit Trivedi,Pritam Chakroborty, Vishal-Shekhar, Salim Suleiman as well as on some notable Bollywood songs in the 21st century. These include Katiya Karun from Rockstar, Heer from Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Bari Barsi from Band Baaja Baaraat, Kabira from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Ik Onkar from Rang De Basanti and many more. She was nominated for the Filmfare awards and IIFA awards in the best female singer category.
Hardy Sandhu, born Hardevinder Singh Sandhu, is an Indian Singer and actor of Punjabi origin. He rose to fame from his hit song Soch. His performance was also praised in his debut movie Yaaran Da Katchup. He was a well known cricketer and represented the Punjab state cricket team many times.
Ammy Virk is a well known artist as well as singer not only in Punjab but mostly whole of world. This melodious voice singer biography is not so long or extra ordinary but just simple as common man.
After learning singing which was his real passion he choose to music to his career. He is an award-winning Indian actor and singer. Over a short period of just two years, Virk produced three thriving singles which include ik pal, Yaar Amli, and Jatt Da Sahara all of which grasped the attention of young Punjabi folks internationally.
