Egypt's state news agency says the prosecutor general has referred 188 people to court over the storming of a police station west of Cairo last summer, in which 15 policemen were killed. MENA said the prosecutor issued his decision on Wednesday. It said 143 of the defendants are in detention while 45 are on the run. Armed men assaulted a police station in the village of Kirdasah, killing most of the policemen inside. Many of the bodies were mutilated. The assault came as security forces swept into two protest camps supporting ousted President Mohammed Morsi on 14 August, killing hundreds. The prosecutor accused Abdel-Salam Bashandi of holding a meeting at his house to plot the attack.
