ED attaches Rs 742-cr assets of Marans

Law seems to have finally caught up former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran, accused of being involved in a criminal conspiracy during his tenure as Union Minister during the UPA government and favouring a telecom firm. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday attached assets worth Rs 742 crore in the name of Dayanidhi Maran and his brother Kalanithi Maran in the Aircel-Maxis case.
Apart from Maran brothers, there are four others who are accused in the case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had alleged in court that Dayanidhi Maran had “pressurised” and “forced” Chennai-based telecom promoter, C Sivasankaran, to sell his stakes in Aircel and two subsidiary firms to Malaysian firm Maxis Group in 2006.
