Economic congregation held at Khalsa College

‘Ecotryst’, the Economics society of SGTB Khalsa College, on Monday, organised the ‘Economic Congregation’, with the agenda to discuss subsidy and fiscal consolidation and black economy in India Principal Jaswinder Singh welcomed the first panel of speakers-K L Prasad (Economic Advisor), Guljit K  Arora (Associate Editor-in-Chief, Economics Affairs) and Jitendra Jain (Chief Financial Officer, GMR Group). The distinguished speakers spoke about the  topic, highlighting the need for subsidy, the critiques of the policy and the Kelkar committee report.  Arora remarked from his analysis ‘Economics develops politics but in India, sadly, politics develops economics.’ The second topic of discussion in the Indian context was ‘Black Economy’. Saumen Chattopadhay (PhD in Black Economy and Associate professor, JNU) and Nistula Hebbar (Senior Assistant-Editor, Financial Express), demonstrated the concept of black economy, the causes and possible solutions.
