Delhi Police have arrested two persons and apprehended one juvenile in connection with the murder of a 60-year-old eatery owner in South-east Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area. According to the senior police officers of the South-east district, the accused have been identified as Manish and Robin. One other accused, Sagar, is still on the run. Meanwhile, police have found the Maruti Swift Dzire car which was used to commit the crime after teams were sent to several parts of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, Manish is the prime accused in the murder of Vasudeo alias Pappu, owner of an eatery in Lajpat Nagar III on Monday night. Police said that on Monday night, Manish, along with his four friends, had a heated argument with the 60-year-old man after he refused a discount of Rs 85 on the bill amount. The cops further said that the four were in an inebriated state and had abused Vasudeo. Following which, Vasudeo had slapped one of them. Though the matter was resolved by other customers, Manish decided to teach Vasudeo a lesson.
“Although we have recovered the car, we are still trying to verify the real owner of the vehicle. Teams are still working to identify who provided the car to the accused. Meanwhile, it is still under investigation whether family members of the accused work with an intelligence agency. The pistol used in the crime has also not yet been recovered,” said a senior investigating officer.
Police said that after the incident, Manish dumped their Swift Dzire car in Kotla Mubarakpur.
Meanwhile, police are still trying to establish the exact sequence of events. Search operations are still on to nab the last accused, Sagar. Through the CCTV footage of the area, police found that the car had a UP registration plate.
