East, North-east Delhi may face power cuts from today

East and North-east Delhi areas are most likely to face power crisis for at least 13 days starting from Saturday as the government has announced complete shutdown of the electricity circuit supply to these two districts of the Capital due to on-going construction of Barapullah flyover Phase-III.

“We are trying to provide electricity to these areas through alternative routes but the chances of power cut in the area can’t be ruled out. However we will try to ensure that load shedding is not done for more than one hour at a time,” said spokesperson of Delhi Transco.

As per the information the ongoing contraction of Barapullah Flyover Phase-III connecting Mayur Vihar with Nizamuddin requires shutting down of the 220 KV Maharani Bagh-Gazipur Circuit-I and II.

“We are closing these two circuits from April 2 to April 16 on request of Public Works Department. All possible efforts have been taken to divert the load to alternate sources,” the spokesperson added. As per the information from the power department the adversely affected areas will be — Gazirpur, Mayur Vihar, Kondli Gharoli, Dallupura, Patparganj, Madhu Vihar, Pandav Nagar, Shakarpur, Laxmi Nagar, Ghonda, Seelampur, Vivek Vihar, Dilshad Garden, GT Road Shahdra, Nand Nagari, Yamuna Vihar, Karawal Nagar, Guru Angad Nagar, Preet Vihar, Geeta Colony, Kailash Nagar, Kanti Nagar and adjoining areas.
