East Delhi mayor flags of fleet of garbage trucks

East Delhi mayor Meenakshi on Saturday flagged of a fleet of 28 new garbage removal trucks at CBD Ground, Karkardooma, Shahdara. She also launched a special ‘Sanitation-cum-cleanliness Drive’ to improve the level of cleanliness and sanitation during the monsoon season.

Speaking on the occasion of flagging of ceremony of 28 new garbage collection Trucks , Meenakshi said that these trucks will help to improve the cleanliness  in East Delhi. The garbage and solid waste will now easily  be collected and disposed at SLF site, Ghazipur properly. She said that EDMC is committed to keep East Delhi more clean and it is a step in the direction alongwith launch of a special ‘Sanitation-cum-cleanliness Drive’ which would  emphasis on micro-level monitoring over day-to-day cleanliness of all areas, lifting of solid waste, cleanliness of public urinals, CTCs besides other issues such as taking preventive public health measures i.e. control of water and vector-borne diseases, repair and maintenance of roads, footpaths, pavements, maintenance of parks, functioning of parks, streetlights and high-mast lights.

Chairman standing committee BB Tyagi said that the EDMC had very outdated fleet of trucks and it required a modern fleet for effective cleaning of the areas under its jurisdiction. Our aim is to have new and modern equipments to make the area under our jurisdiction more neat and clean. He also said for better cleanliness of drains, dhalaos, dustbins and removal of silt and garbage from open sites EDMC has procured 28 more trucks earlier it has procured 52 trucks.
