The name of one more unauthorized colony- East Azad Nagar- has been added to the list of 612 Unauthorised Regularised (UR) colonies in the city. 'As the standing committee has approved the layout plan of East Azad Nagar colony it has come under the UR category. The owners can now apply for regularisation of their building lay-out plans and enjoy all the legal rights of ownership such as bank loans, sell and purchase of flats and buildings,' said Sanjjan Singh Yadav, commissioner of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (East DMC). The colony is built on around three acres of land with 83 plots constructed on it. 'We have directed Jamia Millia Islamia to prepare the layout plans for all the 50 unauthorised colonies built on private land and in the first phase six colonies have been picked up,' added Yadav. The layout plans of Shashtri Park Extension and Harijan Basti Gharoli Extension have been refereed to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for change of land use while layout plans for New Lahori Colony, New Vishwas Nagar Colony and Pandav Nagar E & F block is under consideration with the Layout Screening Committee (LOSC). The LOSC is headed by the additional commissioner with representatives of town planning department, traffic police, fire, DDA and ministry of urban development as members.
'The job of the standing committee is to pass the layout plans approved by the LOSC. We will pass the layout plans cleared by LOSC. The RWA (residents welfare association) is free to get their layout plans prepared by Jamia or any other registered architect or town planning institute,' said Mahak Singh, chiarman of the standing committee of the East DMC. The Delhi government has notified 892 unauthorised colonies for regularisation, out of which 392 are on private land in Delhi. Of these 50 are in the East DMC area. The three corporations have given their in-principal approval for the regularisation of only private colonies. The development charges will be affected from the date of regularisation, September 2012.
'The decision has come as a boon for us and now we feel much more secure. It's is day of celebration for all the residents,' said Subhash Chandra Kohli, president RWA of East Azad Nagar. 612 unauthorised colonies had been regularised in 1979.
