Ease of doing business will create more jobs, says Raghav Chadha

In their constant efforts to better lives of Delhiites, every other day, the Delhi government is coming up with a slew of measures to improve governance in the city along with women’s security and generating employment opportunities. In an exclusive interview to Godhuli Barat, AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha talks about spearheading this “movement of change”. Excerpts:

Q: What inspired a Chartered Accountant to join politics?

A: When the movement was going on, every right thinking person who wanted the betterment of the country joined hands with Anna Hazare, Arvind kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and others. While the party was being incorporated I had the opportunity to meet Kejriwal and that’s when I decided to dedicate some amount of time everyday to help and contribute in whichever way I can with my utmost limited capabilities. I am grateful to my mentors for the opportunities they provided me to handle multiple tasks.

Q: According to you what are the sectors in which Delhi still needs to improve?

A: As far as the larger objective of clean politics is concerned the steps that Aam Admi Party (AAP) has taken has been very well received by the people of Delhi like putting up clean candidates who have no criminal records against them. We tend to keep ‘transparency’ in our work like uploading all our fund details on the party’s website and all we also invite feedback of our work.

Q: How is Delhi government planning to provide better job opportunities?

A: Jobs can be created only through economic promotions. The AAP has been conducting job fairs all across the city and promoting entrepreneurship or self employment. Therefore, a lot of entrepreneurship cells have been created by the government.

Economic activities are promoted like simplification of value added tax, simplification of various business processes and procurement of licenses so that this could help people kick-start their own business which will lead to multiple job opportunities.

Q: In order to do good work, you face a lot of opposition. How do you react to that?

A: Opposition should not be for the sake of opposition. In Delhi, we see that the BJP and Congress oppose to almost all the decisions taken by the Delhi government which is not very well received by the public of Delhi as we received a thumping mandate. As you know, the party is expanding to other states like Punjab or Goa and is receiving overwhelming support and both the BJP and Congress are feeling rattled.

Q: For the upcoming Punjab and Goa elections, what are the strategies that have been taken by your party?

A: Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak are looking after the affairs of Punjab and Pankaj Gupta is looking after Goa. The rallies conducted by the AAP have received overwhelming support and various surveys conducted by media predicted the AAP to be the next ruling party. The biggest issue right now in Punjab is the drug menace and there is only one political party who has the solution of wiping out drug menace from Punjab and that is the Aam Admi Party.

Q: What are the solutions and strategies that have been taken to remove the drug menace in Punjab?

A: A lot of thought process is involved in this. We are conducting a Punjab dialogue in the name of “Bolta Punjab” and are also meeting experts and finding solutions and a detailed report in the form of a blueprint of various problems related to Punjab whether it’s unemployment, farmers’ distress, drug problem or corruption will be submitted. The BJP and Congress both are involved in the drug menace in Punjab and AAP is the only party which can bring a solution to this burning problem.
