Dwarka RWAs to organise debate between three candidates for LS polls

Resident Welfare Associations in Dwarka, under its umbrella organisation CGHS (Cooperative Group Housing Society), is going to organise a debate on 30 March, where candidates from three major political parties will be pitted against each other.

The federation has invited Jarnail Singh from AAP, Mahabal Mishra from Congress and Parvesh Sahib Singh from BJP for a one-on-one discussion. Sudha Sinha, general secretary of the federation informed that they consulted residents from the area and came to the conclusion that candidates should be given a chance to present their views.

She also said that before coming to any final decision over boycott of polls, they want to see how much their candidates know about the area’s problems and demands.

‘The residents should know where candidates stand on issues and how much do they know about the area. They shouldn’t just come here and ask for votes. There should be a discussion’, she said.
Even though they are looking forward to this debate, the federation is a little worried about whether candidates will come for it on time. ‘We have informed candidates that there is going to be a debate. Although, they have assured us that they’ll come on time for the debate, we are doubtful,’ Sinha said.

Frustrated with the poor water supply in Dwarka, the residents of the sub-city organised a demonstration on 23 March and threatened to boycott polls. The sub-city with 1.5 lakh voters is a part of the West Delhi parliamentary constituency.
